Dear Friends of Elizabeth T. Foster -
Elizabeth Tandy “Liz” Foster, 62, of Alpine, NJ departed this earth and returned to the Lord on February 6, 2022.
Liz grew up in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She graduated from Princeton University, where she won the Thesis Prize in Classics. Later she earned her Juris Doctorate at Wayne State University and became a lawyer. Her focus was employment law, and she worked with several small firms and later had a small practice of her own. She was a fierce advocate for anyone who had been subject to discrimination. She helped clients who struggled to get others to represent them, and she cared deeply about their cases, lives, and well-being.
A visitation will be held at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff, NJ on February 11, 2022 from 6-9 PM. The funeral home is located at 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, New Jersey , 07481. The following morning the family will gather at Vander Plaat at 11 AM and head to the Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ to lay Elizabeth to rest. The burial will be at approximately 11:30 AM. Friends and family are welcome to join the funeral procession or simply meet at the cemetery, which is located at 770 Darlington Ave, Mahwah, NJ 07430.
Family and close friends will gather for lunch afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Covenant House, via this link:
The family would like to thank the physicians and staff at Hackensack University Medical Center for their excellent and compassionate care.
Thank you for your kind support during this time.

Liz is a plaintiff-side employment lawyer. This means that she provides services to employees who have been fired or who are experiencing difficulty with their employers. Liz has helped employees who have been discriminated against at work on the following bases: race, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, and disability. She has also helped independent contractors who have been cheated, workers who have reported wrongdoing and then been punished (whistleblowers) and women who have been sexually harassed. She has also helped those who have been denied the right to take time off to deal with their own or their family member's serious or chronic illness, or who have been fired because they asked for or took such time off.
New Jersey laws against discrimination are among the strongest in the US. Liz takes most cases on a contingency basis and that means that if you don't get cash for your case, you don't pay legal fees.
